Oyinda Oduntan

Oyinda has been training in BJJ at Fighting Fit since January 2017. Since then, she has become one of our most dedicated members, progressed at an incredible rate and achieved impressive success in competition. Keep it up, Oyinda.

"I initially started out doing Chinese Kickboxing to keep fit. The more I learned about martial arts the more I wanted to devekop my skills in other areas. I stumbled across a Groupon offer for a month's membership at Fighting Fit, and planned to use the time to learn some ground skills. Needles to say I became hooked on bjj and loved the gym so much I never looked back and became I a full time member at Fighting Fit. For me, BJJ became a huge passion because, not only was it physically hard work but it was more of a mental challenge, which I love. BJJ is such a rewarding martial art: the more hard work you put in the more you get back.

I struggled initially and found I wasn't getting the results I wanted when I started competing first time around. However working with the great coaches and my team mates at Fighting Fit, I never gave up and began to see the hard work pay off in the form of medals. BJJ has not only been rewarding in the form of competition but it has changed my overall lifestyle. I became more motivated and determined and also the added bonus of becoming the healthiest I've ever been in my life, going from weighing 78kg to just 64kg.

I can't recommend BJJ or Fighting Fit as a gym more. My friends refer to me doing BJJ as roly poly and are always saying how happy I've been since starting. I couldn't agree more; it's so much fun, you think you know something and then you find out that there is so much more to learn. For me that's what it's all about learning and challenging yourself all while having a great time with great people.
