IBJJF London

IBJJF London

The IBJJF London Winter Open saw a benchmark in the progress of CFS BJJ as the team placed equal 7th out of 100 teams involved as well as having no comeptitors entered above blue belt.

CFS took a team of 12 competitors, with 7 of those travelling from CFS Manchester. Each put on an outstanding performance. Ciprian Dumatriu, Mike Woodhall and Kieran Flaherty had been successful in the Competition Team tryouts and secured themselves a sponsored place, with Kieran Flaherty competing despite a suspected broken hand. Kieran went out in the first match, Mike won his first on points but was caught with a footlock in his second match.

Ciprian had a total of 6 matches in his category and the absolute. He went on to decisively win all his category matches to take gold and then acheived bronze in the absolute, losing only to a heavy weight. Great performance, Ciprian.

Byung Kwon Moon worked hard in his match but went out in his first round. Alastair Henry won his first match but unfortunately, lost on points in the second. Marie Wilson did a great job, winning her first but losing her second to take a bronze medal.

Gareth Brown put in a fantastic performance in his first competition as a blue belt winning his first match by submission, second on points and losing in the final to a sub to take silver. Well done.

Other medals were taken as follows:
Jozefina Mihaiu Bronze
Josh Levy Silver
Leigh Remedios double Gold
Dylan Barlett Bronze

This is a sign of things to come and the white and blue belt representatives of CFS did the team proud. Well done to everyone who competed.
